Parental Information

At Intake we work with children from the age of 3 to 11 years old, from Nursery through to Foundation Stage and onto Key Stages 1 and 2. We have 13 members of teaching staff, 14 support staff, an Inclusion Team and 3 office staff.

For our term dates and holidays we follow the Doncaster Council holiday pattern.  There are additional training/Inset days that are added. (Term dates)

The school starts at 8:50am promptly. Playground gates will remain open until 9am.  Children must not be brought through reception unless it is after 9 am, in which case they will be given a late mark.

Regular attendance = Increased attainment

Research shows a direct link between high attendance and doing well at school.

100% attendance = 0 days absent = best chance of success

95% attendance = 10 days absent = 2 weeks absent = still a good chance of success

90% attendance = 19 days absent = 3 weeks 4 days absent = worrying: less chance of success

85% attendance = 29 days absent = half a term! = worrying: makes it harder to catch up and progress

80% attendance = 38 days absent = 7 weeks 4 days absent = serious concern: least chance of success = court action

75% attendance = 47 days absent = serious concern = court action

Children with over 90% attendance at school are more likely to gain five or more A to C grade GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.

 Did you know?

  • Arriving 5 minutes late every day adds up to over 3 days lost each school year.
  • Arriving 15 minutes late every day is the same as being absent for 2 weeks each school year.
  • Arriving 30 minutes late every day is the same as being absent for 19 days each school year

If you have difficulties getting your child to school please come and speak with a member of our office team, who can help you.

You are requested not to take your child on holiday during school time as it prevents them accessing the full school curriculum. If you need to take your child out of school in exceptional circumstances then you must complete an application form, which can be obtained from the office.  The national target for attendance is 95%.  If your child’s attendance falls below this Miss Ferguson may contact you to offer any guidance or support that you may need.

We are part of the Magic Breakfast family so all children are offered a bagel or a piece of toast each morning. We are also part of the ‘Fruit for schools’ scheme so all children are offered a fresh piece of fruit each breaktime.

Children who receive free school meals and children under the age of 5 receive a carton of free fresh milk each day.  If you do not receive free school meals and your child is over 5 they can still have milk.  You can register and pay through  Coolmilk

Children have an hour for their lunch and they can either have a fresh school meal or bring a healthy packed lunch.

The afternoon finishes at 3:20pm.  Please ensure you are prompt picking up your child and if you are running late please let the office know.  We can then inform your child and their class teacher.

After-school clubs are offered each term – all clubs are accessible to book through the ‘My child at school’ app. Messages will be sent to Parents when they are running and available to book/pay for.

Please talk to the school office if you have any queries about anything,  Mrs Holmes, Miss Crookes and Miss Ferguson from our office will be happy to help.  Anything displayed on our website can be obtained as a paper copy from school.
