We are looking forward to another exciting Christmas term although this year will be slightly different. The school is continuing to follow all the guidance around Covid-19:
- Extra cleaning of school throughout the day
- Staggered start and finish times to alleviate groups of parents and pupils gathering at the start and end of the day
- We would encourage parents and carers to wear face coverings when in the school yard and remember Hands, Face, Space
- Staggered lunchtimes to allow cleaning between sittings
- Limited movement around school of pupils
- No whole school assemblies
- Windows and door open for ventilation around school
Some of these precautions will impact on the usual terms activities. For example, the school will not be able to show their usual Christmas performances or carol services. However, we will still look to make the Christmas Term a special time for the children.
With the weather getting colder as we move into Winter, we will still have the windows open for ventilation. Although the heating is on, school will be colder than normal during this term. We would therefore recommend children bring a few extra layers to wear in the classroom – this does not have to be extra school uniform. A vest, extra T-shirt or thicker jumper can make a huge difference. Children may want to wear warmer trousers such as jogging bottoms.
We would like to thank you for the support we received from many parents last term with some of our bubbles having to close. This was not ideal and not what anyone wanted so we thank you for your understanding. As always the school follows guidance given by the Department for Education (DFE) when a bubble closes – it is the DFE who tell the school which bubbles to close and who is to self-isolate. We hope to get to the end of term with all children remaining in school but if this is not possible and a bubble has to close, we will provide online learning through the school website.
Please ensure school has your correct mobile number and email, and that you have downloaded the school app – MyEd. MyEd is the primary way school will communicate any information with you. You can download the MyEd App either through Google Play or the App store.
We will be using Microsoft Teams for online learning in the event of children having to learn from home. We will be initially rolling this out to Years 5 and 6 with lessons at school to get them familiar with the platform. This will then be rolled out to other years over the term.
Instead of our usual parents evening, we will be arranging phone call appointments with your child teacher. Check the app in the coming weeks for more information.
The school will continue with Fareshare food parcels on Thursday. Please let us know if you are in need of Fareshare – message through the school app. We have seen a growing demand for this and want to ensure we reach as many of you as we possibly can. Unfortunately, we will not be able to do deliveries as we did through the previous lockdown. Mrs Dunne is available if you need any further support.
