Learning at Intake Academy

Our approach to learning is rooted in our belief that every child deserves a rich, engaging, and purposeful education. Our curriculum is carefully designed to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum, while also reflecting the needs and aspirations of our community. We aim to provide children with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to succeed not only in school, but also in life.

We believe learning should be exciting and meaningful. Our curriculum is broad and balanced, ensuring that all subjects are valued and taught to a high standard. We place a strong focus on reading, writing and mathematics, but also ensure that children experience a wide range of subjects including science, history, geography, music, art, design technology, computing, and physical education. Wherever possible, we make connections between subjects and real-life experiences to deepen understanding and enjoyment.

We have high expectations for all our pupils. This means we expect them to try their best, take pride in their work, show respect for others, and develop positive attitudes to learning. We encourage curiosity, independence, and resilience, helping children to grow into confident, thoughtful, and responsible young people.

Our curriculum is shaped by key drivers that are important to our community. These include raising aspirations, building resilience, promoting inclusion, and developing a strong sense of self and place in the world. We celebrate diversity and encourage pupils to value different perspectives, cultures, and experiences. Our learning environment is nurturing yet ambitious, where every child is supported to aim high and achieve their full potential.

By linking classroom learning with real-world experiences, encouraging creativity and critical thinking, and fostering a love of learning, we prepare our pupils to be successful, kind, and responsible citizens. At Intake Academy, we are proud to create a curriculum and culture that helps every child to flourish.
